The Shul at Chabad is a warm and welcoming Jewish home for individuals and families from every background. Whether you attend regularly, are visiting Richmond or are joining a service for the first time, you will be welcomed with warmth and without judgement.

There is no membership requirement and no assigned seating. Come as you are, connect with the community and experience meaningful Jewish prayer and tradition.

Shabbat morning at Chabad is filled with uplifting prayer, meaningful Torah insights, familiar melodies and a warm community atmosphere. Join us for the Chassidic thought class, stay for the morning service and enjoy a community Kiddush lunch afterward.

Families Welcome

Shabbat for Children and Families

Children are always welcome at The Shul. On select Shabbat mornings, an engaging children’s program begins at 11:00 AM with songs, stories, games and hands-on activities that help children experience the beauty of Shabbat in a fun and meaningful way.

Children’s programming is offered on designated weeks. Families are welcome to contact us in advance to confirm the schedule.

Jewish Birthday Club

Each Jewish month, children celebrating a Jewish birthday are invited to a special Shabbat celebration. Birthday children enjoy a decorated birthday table, birthday cake, singing and a special birthday gift, making their Jewish birthday a memorable celebration with family and friends.

Your First Visit

What to Expect

A Welcoming Atmosphere

You do not need to be familiar with the prayers or know how to read Hebrew. Everyone is welcome to participate at their own pace.

Traditional Prayer

Our services follow traditional Jewish practice and include Hebrew prayer, familiar melodies and explanations in English.

Separate Seating

Men and women sit separately during services in accordance with traditional Jewish practice.

Children and Families

Families are always welcome, with children’s programming offered on select Shabbat mornings.

Life-Cycle Events

The Shul is here for your family during life’s most meaningful moments. Chabad of Richmond can assist with Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, baby namings, weddings, funerals, shiva, yahrtzeits and other Jewish life-cycle occasions.
