Our Most Precious Treasure

One Child. One Letter. One Torah.

The Torah scroll is a tangible expression of our connection to G‑d, our guide to life and one of the Jewish people’s most precious treasures.

Each of its 304,805 letters is written by hand with ink and quill on parchment by a trained scribe. One meaningful way to participate in the mitzvah of writing a Torah is to purchase a single letter, written especially on behalf of your child.

That one letter becomes your child’s personal connection to the Torah and to Jewish children everywhere.

Every Letter Matters

Jewish Unity

Which is the most important letter in the Torah? The first? The last? A letter in the Ten Commandments? In truth, every letter is essential. If even one letter is missing or incomplete, the entire scroll is not valid for use.

The Jewish people are like one Torah scroll. Every individual, young or old, learned or still beginning, is one letter. We are all connected, interdependent and equally important.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, encouraged Jewish children everywhere to join together by purchasing a letter in a collective Torah scroll. One people, one Torah and one G‑d.

Just as all the individual letters come together to form one holy Torah, every Jewish man, woman and child is needed to complete the unity of the Jewish people.

A Special Torah for Children

The Special Role of Children

Jewish children living in different countries and cultures are brought together through this Torah. Their innocence and purity make their unity especially precious.

Having a personal letter in the Children’s Torah Scroll connects each child more deeply to the Torah and to Jewish children everywhere. It reminds every child that he or she is important, needed and an essential part of the Jewish people.
