A Letter in the Torah Scroll
The Torah scroll is a tangible embodiment of our connection to G‑d, our most precious treasure and our guide to life. There is a Mitzvah for every Jew to write a Torah.
Writing a Torah is a laborious process. Each one of its 304,805 letters must be written by hand, with ink and quill on parchment, in special calligraphy, by a trained scribe.

One way to fulfill this Mitzvah, purchase just one letter in a Torah - meaning, have just one letter written especially for you.

Jewish Unity
Which is the most important letter in the Torah? The first? The last? The letters in the Ten Commandments? Every letter is. Actually if any letter is missing or incomplete the whole scroll is invalid for use.

The Jewish nation is one Torah scroll. Every individual-big or small, scholar or learned, rich or poor is one letter. We are all one, interdependent and equally important.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory proposed that all Jews join together by purchasing a letter “collective” Torah scroll, expressing our inherent unity. One nation, one Torah one G‑d.

The Torah joins all the separate letters, and they become one unit: the holy Torah. Whether a child or an adult, having a letter in the Torah expresses our being part of the unity of the entire Jewish people. A Torah from which even one letter is missing cannot be used, so every single one of us is needed man, woman and child.

The Specialty of Children
Children from across the globe living in different cultures come together through this Torah. Children, the Torah tells us, are considered to be pure and without sin. Thus the children’s unity, through the Torah, is much purer than a unity between those who are older.

That’s what so special about every Jewish child having his or her very own letter in the Children’s Torah Scroll. It ties all the Jewish people together stronger and tighter to each other and to our precious Torah. It shows that we are all important to each other.
