  • New Talmud Mini-Series: Stories of Conflicting Witnesses
    Tuesdays, 7:30–9:00 PM | June 21 and July 28

    New Talmud Series

Two litigants claim the same property. Both present witnesses. Both claim to have the stronger case.

When testimony collides, how does Beit Din determine what can still be believed?

In this special two-part series, we continue our journey through the classic monetary-law stories of Bava Batra. We will explore another fascinating case involving conflicting testimony, followed by a review of the major principles of dinei mamonos we have developed together throughout these past series, before taking a break for the summer.

    Lesson 1

    When Witnesses Disagree

What happens when two valid sets of witnesses contradict one another?

Through another fascinating case in Bava Batra, we explore how conflicting testimony affects credibility, what remains of the evidence once witnesses disagree, and how Beit Din determines what can still be accepted.

    Lesson 2

    Putting It All Together

How do all these principles fit together?

In our final class before the summer break, we review the major concepts developed throughout these stories, seeing how the principles of ownership, proof, credibility, witnesses, oaths, and migo form a coherent framework within dinei mamonos.
