    New Talmud Course: ‘Leshitatei’: A Novel Approach to Talmud Study

    This three-part series will explore the Talmudic methodology of ‘Leshitatei’ is a unique method of study, commonly found in the Talmud and its commentaries. Specifically, we will discover the novel approach to ‘Leshitatei’, as introduced in the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
    Developed and made accessible for the first time to an English speaking audience, this course is presented in connection with Gimmel Tammuz, the anniversary of the passing of the Lubavitch Rebbe.

    In this class we will explore two approaches to ‘Leshitatei’ â€" the typical method, commonly used by Talmudic scholars, and the novel method as introduced by the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

    ‘Leshitatei’, Lesson 2 | Tuesday, July 14
    In this class we will be introduced to a ‘Leshitatei’ of two Talmudic sages, Rabbi Yehudah and Rabbi Shimon, based on the novel method to ‘Leshitatei’ as introduced by the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

     
    Personalities and Mindsets
    ‘Leshitatei’, Lesson 3 | Tuesday, July 21
    In this class we will be introduced to the personal connection between the sages of the Talmud and their respective opinions. More specifically, we will discover how the Kabbalistic root of their souls may have influenced their ‘Leshitatei’ way of thinking.

     
    Layers Upon Layers
    ‘Leshitatei’, Lesson 4 | Tuesday, July 28
    In this class we will explore the principle of ‘tzrichuta’; a commonly used Talmudic logic, revealing the necessity of two apparent repetitive statements to be taught. Particularly, we will discover how this principle was first applied by the Rebbe to the study method of ‘Leshitatei’.
